hm Geoff Hurst bothers me here.. maybe Florian Albert, Vava, Jimmy Greaves or Luigi Riva

as for defenders.. maybe Cesare Maldini, George Cohen, Nobby Stiles, Piazza (more 70s i think) or Brito.. hm don't remember more atm.. so the 60s had no defenders at all? :D

I would replace Hurst with Greaves and maybe Ball with Riva. Or maybe Riva should go into the 70's team in which case swap him with someone else :?

Armfield over Cohen, he was england captain early 60's and was recognized as the worlds best right back at the 62 world cup, only missing out on the world cup in 66 through injury.

I would also replace Nobby Stiles with Luis Suarez ;)

Uwe can enter the club too ;)
But you'll have to suggest who gets out

I have thought about it, but that is the problem I find when making lists such as these as really all the players left out can just as easily assemble into a second 'reject squad' and might rival the first set of picks.. :D So I cannot really suggest poor Uwe for any other player already there, as he is more just a personal favourite who was one hell of a player. I think I might just keep Uwe to captain my own '60's rejects' and try to crush this team 9-0 in game. :D

Like I said maybe Riva could go into the 70's as a compromise, im gonna have to upset Fides and not incluse Resenbrink though :P

I wish there was some space for Florian Albert as well :(

Peter80000 you better spirit Albert into the honourables with Seeler before Brezza starts crying, as indicated by that smilie..? XD

But that is what I was referring too, you could easily assembel another starting 11 from the players not included, and it might rival this team, obviously any side with Pele and Eusebio are going to break some hearts, but the rejects have a vendetta to carry out. :P

Vasović instead of Olivella, and in first XI instead of Schnellinger.

Šekularac or possibly Florian Albert instead of... maybe Masopust?

And you could put some reserves in there, like with the 50s.

Added Vasović instead of Olivella (Olivella is moved to the Reserves). I agree with Rubedo that Vasović should be in the first 11 instead of Schnellinger.

Replaced Schrojf with Šoškić in 23 Men Squad (Schrojf is now moved to the Reserves).

Added Riva to the Reserves. I think that he should be in 1960s All Stars instead of 1970s.

Added Reserves and fixed wrong links.

Off course this is just my point of view. I would like to see more precise comments in order to give this team his final update. ;)

Hello everyone again.

Sorry for my long absence but college and work got a hold of me in the past year or so.

I'm happy to see that the 50's and 60's teams (and all of the classics actually) are being very well taken care of. :)

The only thing that shocked me as seeing the Sacred Monster removed from his starting eleven position for Luis Suarez (who was an awesome player but, IMHO is no "Sacred Monster") :D

Also, this might seem odd but I've never heard of Dzajic
I promise to try to find more about him. Was he really better than Rivera and close to Sivori like his stats reflect?

Also, should Simões and, especially, José Augusto also get a place in the team? What do you guys think?

You haven't heard about Džajić... Well, he wasn't much of a player really, just among 3 greatest left wingers ever by almost all football experts (or even the greatest left winger ever, by many football experts). ;)

***

José Augusto could be considered, but I don't think Simões was such class to claim place in this team.

Also, I didn't removed Coluna from Best XI (Brezza probably did), but I agree that in this formation Luis Suarez is better solution.

***

Inserted Vasović into Best XI instead of Schnellinger.

***

Fixed a few errors with the formation and re-uploaded it.

Haha, honest to god, I have never heard his name before. But from what you say I will definitely have to check him out. ;)

About Suarez being better than Coluna in this position I have to disagree. :D While neither was a true DMF (both of them felt more confortable in a CMF and sometimes AMF or, in Suarez' case, as a false striker) they both still could do it with no problem whatsoever (the brazilian press actually called Coluna the Portuguese Didi when Benfica played against Santos for the Intercontinental cup) and I think Mário truly deserves that spot instead of Suarez.
