I might be jumping the gun a little, but in my OF I have him with 83 Defence and 81 Response. Maybe his heading could be raised as well, but I'm not 100% sure.

Great mommment for Coloccini, he play amaizing now, is very fast, have a very good technique, is very similar to David Luiz, and not for the hair jaja, maybe he deserves a raise, New Castle have 8 goals and is not a causality, he is in the top of players in deffence of England, and not only me said that, Bermudez too.

I reckon there could be a few more alterations to this set. They'd be major in their respective areas, but not too many changes in the full set. Heck, I reckon this thread needs discussion more than anything. For example, I'm not sure how I'd evaluate his Speed stats right now; I've seen him skinned by Sturridge and Elmander, but I've also seen him outpace the likes of Adebayor and Yakubu. Make of that what you will.

Firstly, his Team Work has to be increased (for numerous reasons). He's forged incredible partnerships at the back for Newcastle, particularly with Steven Taylor, and - whilst he is by no means vocal (I'd say that its an area he could work upon - has forged a solid understanding with his fellow centre-halves and covers their movement well. Often with Newcastle you'll see the two centre backs working cleverly in tandem, one sitting back whilst the other goes forward and vice versa. He has an intuitive understanding that belies his lack of overt communication. Moreover, we also have to consider Coloccini's ability to pick out a team-mate with his passing. This has been really palpable this season, and he can pick out some tremendous passes (There was a beaut of a pass to Leon Best yesterday against Swansea). Yet the success of his passing is twofold; it requires great passing technique (which he has in bucketloads) and a good understanding of his team-mates movements. I personally reckon that you could put him on an equal pegging with John Terry in this department, so an 83/84 valuation would suit Coloccini to the ground.

Following on from that latter point, Coloccini's Short passing values are too low here. He plays the ball out with incredibly precision and pace, and provides a contrast to Steven Taylor by taking time to play the ball out solidly rather than clearing the ball out-of-play with malice. I don't think you can justify him being below Mertesacker in Short Pass Speed, or below the likes of Heitinga or Rio Ferdinand (Heck, I'm not even convinced that Terry should be so high above him based upon this season) in terms of Short Pass Accuracy. Going conservatively, I'd say a 75/76 for Short Pass Speed, and a 76 - at the minimum - for Short Pass Accuracy. I honestly believe that a serious discussion needs to occur regarding EPL CB's and their Short Passing values, some of the top end players seem too highly rated compared to other leagues (Not sure I can agree with John Terry sitting on an equal pegging to Gerard Pique for SPA).

Also, as other people have said, he's been incredibly solid in the air this calendar year. Not up to the likes of Vermaelen and Koscielny per say, but relatively dominant. He has a good level of aggression and physicality, but has also been able to head the ball with consummate technique and power. However, I'd only look at slight +1 increases in these areas. I would not go any further than an 86 for Balance, and I'm really muddling between an for a Header value (Better than Distin, but I don't think he's superior to Carragher or Steven Taylor), so that could only be an 83 on current merit.

I definitely believe that a discussion needs to occur regarding his Technique and DA. He's, without a doubt, incredible on the ball, and he often reminds me of David Luiz. Yet I'm uncertain on what values to give him in these areas, given his current high valuations. But I'm certain that he should not be below the likes of Phil Jones or Richard Stearman in this areas.

Not sure I'd alter much more after that. He has looked defensively solid this season, but I find him circumspect in one-on-one situations at times. Largely, this is due to physical factors (Can be a tad slow and thus gets brushed against quite easily), but he can also be a half-step behind when trying to follow movements.

I'm glad you brought that up... it's kinda been niggling in my mind everytime I glanced at his stats over the years. As I've always thought since his early la liga days that he was really a great on the ball CB, very comfortable on the ball, and far above average technical skills for a CB. But havn't seen him really in years, so wasn't comfortable with suggesting anything.

I agree with most of what you've said Tom, technically he very good, and his TW definitely needs an increase - tbh, I didn't realise it was as low as 79. I'm not the best judge though, I tend to overrate/underrate Newcastle players. I do disagree with one thing though, I don't think he is particularly bad at defending one on one, on the contrary, he's pretty good at it.
