Then his side should be changed to B in that case!

But in the past 2 seasons he's been playing as CB only, so I think we should remove his SB position!!

Yeah, SB should be removed. I can't recall him playing there to be honest, or at least playing sufficient game time to have it as a position. Side: R should be changed to B or even L. He seems to usually play on the left side of his CB partner.
Still not sure about defence though, I would be inclined to agree with the raise but we definitly need other opinions ;)

Well, I guess he's been better than Senderos(81) and Yobo(82) in his positioning and tackling (including slide tackle) the ball... That's why I suggested 83 cos he's been better than player standing in 81 or 82 but isn't better than Gary Cahil or Ivanovic (83)

That's my opinion, how about yours?

Hmm, its a tough one really. Evans is proving his worth in a top class team and has played against some of the biggest names in world football in the champions league and come out on top on a number of occasions. I'd have him at 82/83 definitly. It's not as though when he plays next to Rio or Vidic he is shown up for having a considerable lack of defensive ability in comparison. I think a widerspread of opinions is need though ;)

I had a set I was going to post on Evo-Web a while back, which had his defence value at 83.

No offence, there's no kind way of saying it, but your suggestions are getting worse and worse. :|

He warrants an 83 for defence.

If you still got that set you were going to post why not post it up?

And I agree with you on defence...

I don't play Pro Ev anymore. I've become disillusioned with it due to '10.

I feel that we could most certainly see increase his defence, his tackling and positioning definitely surpasses the people who sit on an 81 value, and just so you can see for yourself:

81: Philippe SENDEROS, Curtis DAVIES, Liam RIDGEWELL, Gaël GIVET, Clarke CARLISLE, Aaron HUGHES, Sotiris KYRGIAKOS, Nyron NOSWORTHY

Yeah, that seems about right now, doesn't it? Obviously that isn't perfect and I could probably see slight raises for the likes of Aaron Hughes and slight decreases for Senderos and Nyron Nosworthy, but that's an argument for another day. So, let's have a look at the people on an 82 for defence:

82: Johan DJOUROU, Joseph YOBO, Ryan SHAWCROSS, Gary CALDWELL

Now that's a pickle isn't it? I would personally say Ryan Shawcross is at least on par with him in terms of tackling, and with superior positioning, although I wouldn't be against raising him. Evans, I think has reached the stage where he has surpassed Djourou in terms of his defensive intelligence and is probably deserving to be above him, Yobo's not as positionally sound as young Jonny by a long way but Joseph's tackling is very, very accurate whilst Caldwell just looks completely out of place and quite frankly, could sit on a green value for defence.

In terms of raising or lowering other people, I'd do something like this

Senderos: 81 ---> 79/80
Nosworthy: 81 ---> 80
Hughes: 81 ---> 82
Davies: 81 ---> 80
Shawcross: 82 ---> 83
Yobo: 82 ---> 82 + Sliding
Caldwell: 82 ---> 79

Now if all these changes were to happen, I would be happy for him to sit on an 83 value for defence which would then put him on par with:

Carlos CUÉLLAR, Gary CAHILL, Branislav IVANOVIC, Daniel AGGER, Martin ŠKRTEL, Joleon LESCOTT, Abdoulaye DIAGNE-FAYE, Ryan SHAWCROSS

Which seems about right, although I could probably see a one point raise for Diagne Faye and a possible one point decrease for Skrtel.

Shawcross isn't worth 83 for his positioning ability, he's the worse of the defensive dup when it comes to positioning in my opinion. Also, how on earth does Gary Caldwell look out of place? Have you ever even seen him play?

I was actually thinking of Stephen Caldwell, the Burnley defender. :lol: Sorry about that, I wasn't aware of any other Caldwell's in the Premier League. I wouldn't rate Evans above Shawcross though, personally.

Shawcross is a lot better physically and is a bruiser rather than a player who's known for his positioning. I'd rate Jonny as the better of the two when it comes to being an all round footballer, but aerially and physically Ryan is the better.

I think there positionally closer than you think, even if Jonny does pip him in his positional sense, I certainly think Shawcross is more accurate in his tackling than Evans. Also, whilst Evans is definitely the better all-round footballer, it's not as if Shawcross is just some big brute who just knocks people over ala Andy Todd. Whilst Shawcross' main qualities lie in his British grit, determination and aerial abilities, he is still a very intelligent defender for someone of his age. Also, you could probably knock Evans' attack up a few points, I think he is at least average, if not slightly above average in this department.

Paddy, you working on an update for him as well? He, Vermaelen, and Chygrynskiy must be closer in Defense and Response.

His passing is a bit better as well. 22 BTW.
