I like it more-less , but am not sure why such a low value for SPA , i still see him as great passer , still better with long ones than short passing , but still , he is better passer than most of the guys who sit on 85 SPA

till lindemann didnt put it on the most best way but... current stats in comparision to Lampard's puts Gerrard to shame, eventhough at his prime people regard gerrard as the better shooter, is there such difference between the two nowadays?

SA
Lampard should always be above him

SP
Gerrard should always sit higher

ST
Difficult, they excel at different kinds of shots, I'd say Lamps edges it always but they should be similar

I should pop in and say his passing is way too high. Couple of assists in the Euro's and he's near 90's with his passing? Nah, sorry; he's still all hollywood. I would say 82 SPA and 84 LPA.

i believe it's an expression to say "flashy" or something...or better say showcase, showoff...regardless, something along those lines.

How does that even relate to stats? Anytime you see gerrard, his long passing stands out as being pretty much world class.. does that make him holly wood? He doesn't play all that much (at least the times I seen) show off? passes

'Hollywood' is used to describe a pass or a player who attempts to make long passes for the sake of them, gaining nothing and usually not completing said passes. His Long Passing has never been world class because he's never been a world class passer. His crossing is really good, i'd even go so far as to say great, but his long passes in general, like teammate Charlie Adam, are average (and Hollywood).

Dunno who this average long passing gerrard is, I've only ever seen an outstanding one.

For such an average passer, he has 75% accuracy on his long balls this season. While xabi alonso is 78%... average?

Gerrard is one the best all time long range passers as long as I remember as well as short passing , he might lost a bit accuracy in them but he is still on the better passers in EPL .

but a crosser having average LPA can still make absolute perfect cross in game having good LPS+"early crosser" .

any way gerrard's current passing is just perfect imo.and CR you can't compare him with adam tbh.that's weird .

about shooting i am testing... i like the values of Jez's set tbh.

I never said that. You are assuming. He is on 89 LPA because of his crossing but his long passes (diagonals, passes that switch play, etc) aren't an 89. I suggested an 84, which represents a good crosser when in crossing position.

I find it strange that he was fine on his previous value and nobody said a word about it, then the Euro's came and went and all of a sudden, he has a world class value. I don't one tournament in which he played 4 games is enough justification for a raise in stats.

@Tasmin

I compared him to Adam because Charlie Adam's long passes are awful but when he gets a chance to cross a ball (not a corner) they are generally accurate and powerful.

You know, he has 20% success rate in his crosses. And 75% in his long balls, maybe you have the two mixed up?

He's always been a high quality long passer and if anything he's getting better with time, probably to compensate his more reduced mobility. I wouldn't even argue to have his LPA on oranges. On the other hand... does his DS really merit for a yellow value? I'm merely asking out of curiosity, I haven't seen him much this season, only a few matches for Liverpool and then at the Euro. It didn't look like a yellow DS for me but I can be mistaken.

If Xabi has 78% succes rate, and gerrard has 75%,,why the hell is Gerrard still on LPA 89? Should be like 92-94 then...

Leon Britton had higher pass success rate than Xavi. That doesn't mean he necessarily needs a higher SPA. Stats don't tell everything.
