I agree, he wins many air-battles even against taller players...

I'm simply asking, when looking at the Formation thread, shouldn't Song have CMF aswell?

I think he now clearly deserves the Covering star, as he has really improved in this aspect of the game. Now in any match of Arsenal this season you can see that he plays as a centre back or a full back depending on who is missing from the defence in that moment (usually clichy or gallas).

Agility only 79? He struck me as a very agile guy vs. Olympiacos, gave us trouble through the midfield with his twists and turns.

agree with having a CM * and also covering * he usually takes place in the portion of the back four missing when they go on the offensive,i also think that we should slightly raise BB,AGi and Tech he showed poise and great ball control in his previous games holding the midfield and keeping the ball from opposition

Bump. To be brief, there have been a few different suggestions here, namely:

*CM
Possible Agility raise?
Technique raise?
Team Work?
Mentality?
Dribble Accuracy?

Just trying to spark some debate and hopefully some solutions here.

Well, I made an updated set on Evo-Web in May and for once, nobody actually posted it on here.

It kind of (I say kind of, I actually mean does) look like this:

That's actually one of the areas I wasn't too sure about, mainly because of the +10kg in weight combined with +3 for the BB value itself. Admittedly I haven't tested him with these yet so I'll hold back a bit until I do but it would put him 2 clear points ahead of the likes of Vermaelen (albeit he's clearly underrated so a pointless argument really ;)), Bikey and Saha who have similar heights but would have less weight.

Like the lowering in passing, I've wanted it lowered for awhile now though he's starting to show some of the passing he showed at Charlton.

And one minor thing, I'd have his ST slightly lower. I know a 69 isn't exactly high but he does have trouble at times making a clean connection kind of reminiscent of Eboue though not quite so disastrous. I'd keep at his current value or even 1 less than that.

Alf Ramsey: "I'll be watching you for the first 45 minutes and if you don't work harder I'll pull you off at halftime."
Rodney Marsh: "Crikey Alf, at Manchester City all we get is an orange and a cup of tea."

I'm surprised his Defence value is too high imo.

True. e.g Yaya Toure is clearly better than Song in terms of defensive positioning. And they are both players who have been utilised as CBs for some time in the past.

About time to update his stat ? I think the current set of stats is outdated for Song considered how well he has been so far for Arsenal.

Song has made a great improvement over the past half year. The last match shows his importance to Arsenal to some extent. But his data hasn't been updated for such a long time

I'll do a text version of GL66 stats, if you want. But I think, it will be better take there cards or discuss some areas.
So, for the GL66 stats:
Agility: I'd leave it as 79, he is no lesser agiler than Gallas and I think it fits him well, in game.
Aggression: I think that 68 is a bit low. I know he doesn't attack very often, but maybe something like 70 would be better for him. 78 is definitely very much, he really isn't a DMF, who loves to go forward. Mikel is ATT 70/AGG 70, so this change can be made IMO. About mentality, I'm pretty sure he could be in middle 80's. He is very hardworking player, he very hardly gives up of walks on the pitch. Technique is good at GL66 stats, dribbling, passing. Yeah, I like them! ;)
About Player Index:

P04 - Anchor Man (65% sure)
P14 - Enforcer (30% sure)
S09 - Covering (90% sure)

I don't say he deserves them, I want to discuss about them. Anchor Man could be, but then a raise in aggression could be maybe even bigger, Enforcer.. not sure, rather I'd say he doesn't need it, he takes everything by his great positioning, not as "aggressive" as Gattuso for example IMO. Covering is needed, I think I'm 90% sure about it, he is a "saver" many times and he proved to deserves this card.

I know that i don't know anything.

I still haven't got a conclusive (or any sort for that matter) answer for my question regarding whether Mr. Song-Bilong could warrant *CM.

He played that position at Charlton Athletic. ;) But that was only because he was the most skilled midfielder that they had, and he was superb in that box-to-box style of play actually.
