Can't he have even lower agility and maybe dribble speed closer to Konami's values? I know he's massive but he moves like a damn robot most of the time.

Definitely, thinking the same thing as you. I'm not sure what the exact Konami values are, but I'd opt for an Agility of 68, a Dribble Speed of 67, and an Acceleration value that could be as low as 67.

He looked like he was moving in slow motion against Welbeck, i was shocked he got the ball off the line.

But first he lost physical clash with Welbeck (BB 82)

Yeah I'd really like to take down his BAL by a few points.

The grass was very deteriorated, he ¿stalled? (don't
know if stalled is the correct word, really don't know how
say "atascado" in english... used google translator...)
in the grass, and he falls...

Now he's injured....

You're saying Vermaelen is worst defender than Mertesacker and that's a lie.

Re Balance: I recall Welbeck throwing Mertesacker around at the Emirates. With SackofMerte's Height/Weight/BB, wouldn't he be stronger than Welbeck in-game?

Per reminds me a bit of Peter Crouch, but in defence. His main attributes are technical rather than physical, in my opinion.

Michael Cox, of http://www.zonalmarking.net makes Mertesacker an example, in an article titled, 'What constitutes being good in the air?' stating that Per, and others like him are likely to be a player uncomfortable with physical contact, of challenging opponents for the ball, but nevertheless a danger through height and the ability to find the target.

Here's the link http://www.zonalmarking.net/2012/02/02/heading-good-in-the-air/

good observations in this post. The different types of players are well described too. Post this article in the stats analyzing section, I'm sure to define a player's header-type makes it easier for many people to rate them more accurately.

Yeah his BAL should definitely go down. People look at his size and assume he's very strong and great in the air but he's not. And he defends by using his mind and skill, not by using his body. I have his BAL on a 82 tbh.
And yeah, Cox is spot on. He has great adavantage over most in aerial challenges due to his height, the same happens in game. But his leap isn't good, his heading isn't anything special either. I'd decrease his Jump to a white value and decrease Header to a 82.
DF leader and Covering should be removed, not sure he warrants Marking. And he needs lower speed stats, lower STA, lower DA/TECH and a CON drop. I'll update him later.

Really interesting article and it is funny that when i was reading the description of each "letter", i thought "Mertesacker sounds F for me" and he was. Agree with all Evans suggestions, but for DA/TECH, i wouldn't go lower than 70s sometimes his tall, lack of agility and dribble style makes him seeing a bit more rusty with the ball than he is.
Talking about his BAL, i found him more than weaker a lack of "balance" itself (sounds weird ), don't talking about balance as strength but as equilibrium, is like when you have a tall building but very thin, the wind moves more and is less solid than is for me Mertesacker, is like in challenges he didn't plant hard to ground and become more fragile, so i will go for an 84. Hope my example clarifies my thought.

Agree on all, except in a much lower Tech, for me 74 is fine, he has
a nice first touch...
-Balance on a 84..
-Man mark isn't needed...
