I watched on tape AZ's away match against Feyenoord. It seems like their formation is quite tough one to copy to game. To me it looked like they used some kind of hybrid of 4-3-1-2 and 4-3-3 formations.

Gk Romero
RB Swerts
LB Pocognoli
LCB Moreno
RCB Moisander
DMF De Zeeuw
LCMF Schaars (c)
RCMF Mendes da Silva
AMF Maartens
SS El Hamdaoui
CF Ari

When attacking Maartens seemed to have more wingerlike role penetrating on left flank. Also Mendes da Silva appeared lots of times on right flank challenging sideback. I could post a picture of formation, but I dont have a clue how to do it.

Nice formation Dagoberto , I agree with you but... the starting 11 is not correct. Their strongest and current formation:

Gk Romero
RB Swerts
LB Klavan
LCB Luijckx
RCB Jaliens
DMF De Zeeuw
LCMF Schaars (c)
RCMF Mendes da Silva
AMF Martens
SS Dembele
CF El Hamdaoui

Thanks mate. I just posted the lineup against Feyenoord because I wasn't sure what is their strongest lineup. Are you sure that Klavan and Luijckx are regular choises? Because Moreno, Pocognoli and Moisander have been playing a lot for this season. I know Moreno is injured but what about Moisander and Pocognoli?

It isn't correct, first of all i posted the latest starting 11 and dagoberto posted the latest and best formation as well so don't be so obstinate and update 1st post. I like your hard work but now your really annoying me being so selfish. :|

Since de Zeeuw transfered, how have they played? Still play fake 4-3-3?

I think they lined up like this at the end of last season:

Sergio Romero
da Silva - Moisander - Moreno - Poulsen
Wernbloom - Schaars - Martens
Lens - El Hamdaoui - Dembele
Everton F.C.

I'll re-do these come next season, because AZ will probably end up losing some key players this summer and changing their formation again.

I've gone through a lot of formations this season and this is my conclusion for the formation:

Formation: 4-3-3

GK: Romero
RB: Marcellis
RCB: Moisander
LCB: Moreno
LB: Klavan
RCM: Elm
CM: Wernbloom
LCM: Schaars(c)
RWF: Holman
LWF: Martens
CF: Sigthórsson

Other possibilities/Subs: (somewhat in order of preference)
GK: Alvarado / Didulica
RB: Poulsen
RCB: Moreno
LCB: Viergever / Moisander
LB: Viergever / Poulsen
RCM: Wernbloom / Falkenburg / Maher
CM(sometimes AM/DM): Falkenburg / Elm / Schaars / Martens / Ortíz / Maher
LCM: Martens / Viergever / Wernbloom / Elm
RWF: Gudmundsson / Benschop / Sigthórsson / vd Velden
LWF: Gudmundsson / Ortíz / Sigthórsson / vd Velden
CF: Pellè / Falkenburg

Free kicks and penalties are taken by Elm.

Martens doesn't play enough. It's just Maher in the formation. Corners then by Elm?
