You do know that you have control of this thread, don't you? :D

And surely his Shot Technique could be decreased? If you were to put him in our current rating system, he'd top it and that'd be a tad unfair.

He could get just one or two point up in response. He was never the kind of player to react to offensive moves adapting his response to it.
No, we was always the player that, with the ball on his feet, would setup other's moves.

Now about the shooting technique, actually I think he could be higher and not lower. Alas, the video on his profile can make point in there.

Once again I am suspect to speak about one of my teen days favorite players (he and Cantona) but, on the other hand, means I really know his style of play.

The reason why he didn't show sharp reactions regularly is due to his generally lazy nature, it's quite a well-known fact that Ortega had something of a non-chalance when a loose ball was nearby.

The reason why I'd opt for a lower value is because you can, with a lower value, perform exactly the same connection with the ball when shooting and can score from similar difficult angles. Furthermore, it'd be unjustified to put him on a ST value so much higher than most currently playing midfielders.

One other thing: His main position should be *SS and not *AMF.

I don't know if by doing this, the good ST value can be justified.

Now that he was lazy, he was. And not so clever as he followed his father's nickname "El Burrito" which means "The Little Donkey"

It's very high with good reason.

Few players have ever had such a high level of control over the ball at their feet, only a handful have ever been able to match him.

I'd say his DS could come up 1 or 2 points, he lost very little speed on the ball.

And ST of 90 is fine for him imo. Even considering the current ladders.

I thought a ST of 90 might be a bit too high for Ortega but I've revised this after watching the linked video - he certainly liked his lob shots :D

I think he might be a little over-rated with the combination of decent ACC & TS, high DS and very high DA and AGI. I'm not disputing that he was an excellent dribbler, I just feel these ratings make him a little bit too good and a couple of minor adjustments might be required. I think its the speed and the dribble ratings that I have more of a problem with than his agility.

Think he deserves the Trickster and Mazing Run cards and primary position should definitely be SS rather than AM.

This video has got some good footage of his dribbling skills in action:

i think his DA and Agility are deserved. maybe his DS could come back down to 89?

He wasn't as good with technique as the likes of Riquelme and Rivaldo. ;) Better dribbler, though for sure.

I think there is actually a good reason for that value. At least there better be. :P

to me some stats are high to 2000/2001 era
i feel his TS/ACC/AGI/DA/DS and maybe ATT for the ortega of the 1998 without doubts
IMO the actual set is a mixture of the ortega of the 98 (BAL/TS/ACC/AGI/DA/DS) and the ortega of the 2001 (passes stats, shoot stats and CURL for example) is not completely for 2000/2001 ortega

MENT 58? I know that this always was his weak point, but taking into account also his not high STA, isn't too much harsh? :| I could enjoy a lot of games of that era, and I'm pretty sure that he could have the 90' and in important games and in the last minutes he wasn't that crap, with that MENT value must be the worst ever in PSD, seems too much unreal. WHat do you think?

+1

58 in MENT? With all due respect you ever saw him play ortega? But a number is so unexpected, unreal and completely random. Lacks any kind of sense.
