Just remembered he doesn't have a classic set so in a attempt to help the classic mods out, I created one. Young Rooney. Back when he was at his best on a physical level, he was a monster, but still unrefined technically. The expectation were for him to combine that physical excellence and his goal-scoring ability with great technical abilities and intelligence. Sadly, he's declined quit a bit since then on a physical level. He really would've been something if it wasn't for that, not that he's excellent player currently.
Suggestions are welcome of course. DS could sit a bit lower btw, RES a bit higher. And arguably one of the few to deserve Chasing Back so I wouldn't mind adding it at all.

At first glance, without any testing, it seems pretty ok. I wouldn't change much honestly... a bit lower DS, as you say? Maybe, 1 or 2 points I suppose. Not sure about yellow Mentality, I'd leave it at 79 but it would be more a cosmetical change than anything (although considering he has 85 in his current set...). Yes, Chasing Back seems pretty reasonable.

Konami's ratings are pretty much useless, they've always brutally overrated him.

I wouldn't put his DS any lower tbh, he could build up quite some pace with the ball when he was younger, I remember him outrunning players like they were pines bolus back then. Also Stamina is a safe red imo. Also dunno about Mentality, he was(and still is) one of the most irregular players in that aspect. Sometimes he could be the heart and the sould of the team, sometimes he just wouldn't care at all. He still does that often. Maybe just leave it at an 80? Green Mentality would look weird for someone like Ronney imo.

I've been watching through old stuff for this set... I started on Rooney, but I've stopped and gone back to older matches to look at players like rvn.

His passes seemed much better than you've given him to me, as well as DS.. but I'll make no suggestions for the time being.

Good stuff, but the set is harsh imo, harsh on passing and tech, also, attack could sit a fair bit higher than 87.

Pretty good set but I just not sure about mentality. I think we might be taking the whole 'dealing with adversity' thing way too literally.

Young Rooney for me, was a clear demonstration of what mentality was in a player. Anytime things went down, rooney would start playing like crazy, and when he'd get on the ball everyone would start cheering because of his detemenation, it's without any doubht 90 for me.

If we are going by this definition, "Mentality is how well a player deals with adverse situations. Mentality also effects Stamina. Players with high Mentality will not be as effected by depleted levels of Stamina. " then i definately agree with jurgens, his performance never dropped when he was tired he worked hard for the team 100% for the whole 90 minutes

Yeah, honestly going through how Konami have rated certain players I think its just a measure of how much tiredness will effect a player's performance. None of this he doesn't quite 'turn up' for some games therefore he needs lower ment, In Rooney's case its more of a consistency problem so I'd just give him lower form. Also form in the new games seem to only affect player arrows nothing more.

Slightly updated. I can only imagine DS was influenced too much by present day Rooney? Young Rooney was actually a beast physically and could take players on for fun. Disagree that he was still unrefined technically back then as well, he was actually much more consistent back then technically, well worth Konami's values which still suit old Rooney. Today he has refined his passing skills, linkup play, Shot acc ( which should be higher ) heading and attack (being able to pop up in the right positions to score despite playing shit for half the match) but In all he was actually far more exciting to watch back then.

I always considered his acceleration higher than this. More 87/88. Even in vid in Brezza's post you can clearly see how incredibely quickly he reaches top speed.

I also doubt if he was a 88 tech guy back then.

I think he deserves a higher DA. 85 puts him one above Shevchenko, he was much better at dribbling than Shevchenko and Pato.

In his Everton and early Man Utd days he used to go on mazy runs and his close control was better than C Ronaldo's at the time IMO.

I think DA should be around 87-88.
