INFO:

Former Greek football player, that played as goalkeeper. He's regarded as the best Greek goalkeeper of all time having been awarded the most caps in the national team and playing an integral part in the UEFA Euro 2004 triumph.

He played in the qualifying rounds of the 2002 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2004 where he excelled as Greece qualified for the finals. Nikopolidis was one of the cornerstones of the Greek win in Portugal, where he kept six clean sheets and did not let in a goal in the three knockout games as he claimed a winners' medal. He also earned a place in the All-Star Squad, and was voted goalkeeper of the Euro 2004 All Star team.

Soon after being instrumental in UEFA Euro 2004 helping Greece to lift the trophy, Nikopolidis joined Olympiacos F.C. making an immediate impact for his once rival team. Keeping a clean sheet in the first derby against his former club in the process, he went on to win two Doubles in a row, making him the only Greek player to win three consecutive doubles with two different clubs.

At his new team, Nikopolidis also earned a reputation for making game-winning saves in the most important games. Displaying his penalty-saving abilities, Nikopolidis saved three penalty kicks against Roma, Real Madrid, and Rosenborg BK, making him undefeated from the penalty spot in UEFA Champions League football in the Olympiacos shirt. In the 2007–08 season, he also equaled the Greek league record for the most penalty kicks saved in one season, which included saves against PAOK and former club Panathinaikos. Nikopolidis announced his plans to retire at the end of the 2009–10 season.

He was never this good, almost everything far too high. Several stats completely out of standard, mentality 93? ACC 78??? And teamwork of 79? Response 89? Teamwork 79? The reason we have a 70% inaccurate classic database is random sets like this that have no clue of our standards, with no explanations are approved. Nikopolidis was a good keeper, these stats make him out to be a world class keeper who would play for any team in the world, which he wasn't at all.

Okay so...

Defense... why does he have this number? Never, ever this good. A decent keeper, above average in some areas, and a real leader, not one of the finest keepers in the last decade in his positiong. I'd take this down, WAY DOWN. Something like an 84/85. The Era is too long aswell. He did get better in his later years positionaly, as most keepers do when they lose their speeds and reflexes.

TS: 69-70
ACC: 71-73 Really not sure here, been awhile since I seen him. Original value is just ridiculos however.

stamina: 69

agility 77-80. I think 80 is the max here, really wasn't an agile keeper.

resp: 86... I'd say 87 MAX. But 86 is really the max for him, just wasn't such a responsive keeper.

KS: 84/85 no higher.

Teamwrok: 83/84

Mentality... this needs to come way down. Its mainly about how confident keepers are in coming out of their back line, and this is way, way to high. Not even Kahn should have over 90. I know why you put it at this value, but its just wrong. I'd have to ask s-cobar for some values for to represent what you were trying to achive here. I'd take it down to a normal value for now... something like 80, better than the first post for the time being.

Bal: 83 or 84.

The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.

Current nikopolidis has 86 in def and 72 in acc, i don't think that he in his best years has the same value of defense and acceleration, res i think 88 is a good value.
His acc can be 73 or 74, what do you think that is the best value for him?

Using current sets and increasing them just based on the notion that he was better in this area becasuse he was younger, is a really bad idea. Most keepers postioning between the posts increases as they age, not decreases. Espeically those that lose thier response, they learn to compensate for their lack of reflexes by having a better initial postion. This is exactly what happend with nikopolidis and an 84 is pretty good value, he deserves no higher. But again, the Era is too long extended imo. Same thing can be said about acc, 72 is a very high value. Putting him at the level of Cesar and cassilias, when he was never close them, just because hes younger is also a bad idea. And his response was never, never an 88 good. Just look at say... Romero for example, his reactions were never even close to his. He's a 85/86 response max.

What to do with this set? It's probably salvagable but for the time being I'd really rather not move an inaccurate set to the main site. Updating response 86 and def 84 for the time being.

I've been watching some Greece 2004 matches lately, I could come up with a set, but I'd rather like someone who has followed him regularly to give it a try. Though I really hate my GK sets.

He was really impassable during Euro 2004. Apart from the consistency he and the whole greek defence displayed, he was very coolheaded and with a tremendous ability to cope with pressure. Pretty safe hands also during that time.

He was, I might be biased as an Olympiacos supporter but any greek can confirm he's been the best we've had the last decade, by a mile. I've followed him from his first steps with Panathinaikos to the end of his career, he led both club and country by the hand numerous times and he shone in big games (e.g Arsenal '09) regardless of his teams performance. He faced a decline during his late years but till that time he could play for a top team. His real weakness was his stiffness and lack of aerial dominance, position and handling wise he was very very solid.

If he was "stiff", then isn't 79 AGI a bit high? Just asking.

His overall movement was a bit sluggish, turning his body, changing angles etc. most obviously when coming out of the goal. But he was fast in getting up on his feet after performing a save. Both are effects of agility, probably the second came more obvious in my mind when I posted the set. Anyway I wouldn't mind it being lowered by a few.
