When you’re considered to be the fourth greatest player in Brazilian history after Pele, Zico, and Garrincha, that’s about as great an accomplishment as there is. Rivelino was lauded for his grace on the pitch, as well as his dazzling array of moves, which included his patented “Elastico,” in which he faked going right while keeping control of the ball and then spinning it to his left. This move has become a staple in modern football, popularized by the likes of Ronaldinho, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo (the Phenomenon), and others.

Rivelino, who perfected his tricks by playing futsal in Sao Paulo, was more than just a playground player. He had excellent passing skills, a sharp mind, excellent dribbling skills, and a thunderous left footed shot. He was also a tremendous free-kick taker, famous for his “banana-bending” kicks. He scored a famous goal against the Czechs during the 1970 World Cup that was nicknamed “The Atomic Kick.” He was an important part of the aforementioned 1970 World Cup squad, which is widely regarded as one of the greatest teams of all time. He played in two subsequent World Cups and ended his international career with 92 appearances and 26 goals.

He was also a quick thinker, and one example of this was when he saw the opposing teams goalkeeper finishing up his pre-match prayer right as the whistle blew to begin the game. Rivelino took the kickoff and booted a long-range shot that beat the startled goalkeeper for what is considered to be the fastest goal in football history.

Well, you don’t become one of the greatest Brazilians of all time by being stupid. Actually, that’s not entirely true in Garrincha's case. Still, Rivelino carved out an excellent reputation for himself, despite playing in the shadows of Pele and Zico.

Brasil 1970, perfect team, during the training Rivelino and Tostão were having a break and there was only one guy who could reprimend them, and that guy was obviously Pelé. Pelé did reprimend them.

Rivelino just said: "Hey Pelé, you would have loved to be a leftie, wouldn't you? Chill out."

Uzair, I don't think you should have removed his *Dribbling. Also, can somebody comment his passing raise (I remember watching a few Brazil games from his Era and he really was good passer, but I really can't remember was he worth of orange numbers, that's all ).

I think his WFA could go up to 6 and WFF could go up to 3. Any thoughts about that?

Also, couldn't he claim a point or two more for his Response?

I am not sure about the talisman, since his influence grew with age. He had a long prime.

Any trickster move could be added to him, he was a master trickster.

And you know I think he deserves more than 96 in DA. Now that you've seen some games of Brasil (I've never seen him playing in Corhintians..., just in the NT) do you have an opinion on this value?

Talisman and Classic. no 10 are very similar to *Playmaking (Talisman seems more similar to me, because Classic no. 10 is more of a static playmaker).

Well, as I saw those games 6 months or so, I can really say his red area in DA is justified. About his raise in DA, well I think it wouldn't be unjustified to give him 97 (on level with Ronaldo in Inter, or Figo in his prime), but more then that would be too much really.

Yes, Rivelino was master trickster, but can you cay that you saw him doing Quick Scissor Dribble or any type of Roulette (I really can't remember him doing that)? I think we need to aim to make stats as realistic as possible.

What about his passing and *Dribbling, Classical? Any thoughts about current values (Uzair raised LPA and LPS recently, as far as I can see and removed *Dribbling)?

I admit didn't see him doing any rouollete. It is a fact.

He was a extremely good crosser. Roberto Carlos said he learnt a lot from Rivelino, that move he used to do of passing the right leg and then go with the left and cross it.

Rivelino's left foot was amazing. The DA raise I would go to the 97 like you say, to match his technique. 98/99 for the likes of Ronaldinho, Maradona, Pele is more than fair.

And still one question, go see his goals, I think the current stats make him relie too much on his splendid marvelous power thunder kick. But that because he just had it, but his technique and accuracy were somewhat better I say. No more then 2/3 points maximum tough.

I can go with SA raising, to 84-85 (Maradona is at 86, and I think he wasn't better then him at SA area). About his ST, in my opinion it could go up to 85 (Savicevic and Zidane are on 85).

What do you think about my WFA: 6 and WFF: 3 suggestions and about putting back *Dribbling?

Your proposings are good on the shooting paramers. And yes, he was no better than Diego there.

Both are technical skills avaliable to any technical player. Not a specific move like the roullete.

I saw quite a number of his short videos + those WC games. I think he had good accuracy with his right foot, he just didn't use it so often. That's why I proposed WFA: 6 and WFF: 3 (Classical he already has WFA: 5 and WFF: 2). Basically, when the ball comes to his right foot he's not afraid to use it. You can see, for example Maradona just refusing to use his right foot whenever he could (in most cases for dribbling also) do rabona or somehow move ball on his left foot, he would do it. I don't think Rivelino was like that (especially since you can see in his short videos very precise, although not often, usage of his right foot while dribbling or shooting).

It would be much easier if we've got opinions from more people about all these parameters.

About that change, well I can go with any of those values to be honest. I just want to play with him knowing he will use mainly the left foot which he did.
