Renato started his football career in Santa Catarina playing at MarcÃlio Dias and Joinville.In 2000, he moved away to São Paulo and played in União São João de Araras.A year later, Renato was transferred to Guarani.
Because of his great performances he was bought by Corinthians where he won some titles, such as Torneio Rio-São Paulo, Copa do Brasil and Campeonato Paulista.
Renato was considered a great footballer during his time at Flamengo between 2005 and 2007.
Renato was Flamengo's top scorer in 2005 and 2006. It was during 2006 he again won the Copa do Brasil.In 2007, Renato continued playing well and winning championships with Flamengo; He went on to win the Taça Guanabara and Campeonato Carioca.
But in July 10, 2007, Flamengo announced his transfer to Al-Nasr, a club in the UAE. Renato is playing for Al-Shabab, another club from UAE.
