by raising his def you would just put him on the same level like Benatia or Hummels and thats imo not right. He is indeed a great defender but both are in all respects but speed better than him. The little gap of 1 point should be remain (even when i see Hummels clearly at a orange def value). this is just my personal view, correct me pls should i be wrong.
The EP raise is clearly needed, its one of his strengths.

I agree, for the most part (bar dispossessing).

"Better" is a vague term anyway.

TW, MENT, RES and BB combined, both Benatia en Hummels would still be more accomplished (or "better") players in their position than Varane; as they are IRL.

We are trying to emulate players as precisely as possible, and I'm beginning to think we should therefor look at it on a player-to-player basis.

If we try to estimate all stats as close as possible to reality for each player individually, their level of influence will automatically be expressed in-game and endlessly comparing players stats would no longer be necessary.

Just trying to say, it should not be an argument not to liken a certain stat to reality just because some other player is "better": that should be a case wholy on its own.
Moreover, its the sum of qualities that define how "good" or valuable a player is in his position; keep calm and trust PES to simulate this. If it doesn't reflect reality: adjust.

Looks nice. But that's in training, without anyone putting any kind of pressure on him, he hardly ever shows anything like that.

look at the top speed he hits there

he's a monster in athleticsim. Varane seems like he's even a far superior athlete to ronaldo, just considering natural power. he shits on ronaldo for this entire game that they play.

He made an amazing performance during this game, especially fast like your said, the run he did sometimes is really amazing if we consider he's a center back. That's not so common to have center back that fast. Pretty good distributor also.

Had few hiccups but against liverpool, he shows he is well above his peers in the team. Ramos and Pepe got nothing on him.

He's really one of the fastest CB's I have seen lately. And like wunie said, it's all so natural. He's not even built like an athlete in many ways but his physical capabilities are crazy, just look at his strides, they're huge, and yet he still manages to eat the turf as fast as basically everyone. It's mental.

I have yet to see him get beaten in a 1-on-1 sprint.

Lazar Markovic was in a full sprint in last game , and Varane caught him in 2-3 strides from the standing position , thats insane , being this huge and being that fast both acc-wise and ts-wise , in europe there's not a single one CB nearly as fast as him . Markovic has 85 TS and Varane made him look like he has white/green TS .

honestly markovic from what i've seen should be at least TS 88, so that makes varane's sprint even more fascinating.

It wasn't just speed, he's full of confidence and willing to try anything, and most of the time he gets it right. Those long passes yesterday were great.

He is so freaking complete, being 21 he could be a starter in any team. If only Bayern could've bought him instead of Benatia, they're bit similar but Varane is younger and had impressed me ever since. With this speed he would be ideal for breaking the counters and can play football. The biggest talent among defenders and already established. I'm afraid what will he be like in game when he gets TS he deserves.

1:05 the run on markovic
He is a world class defender eventually he will have oranges in def im sure he's always in time in interceptions and recover balls such a class player in speed i think he's a 88

He owned Markovic on that run! And to me Markovic is more than an 85 in TS, which makes what Varane did more awesome.

By now, isn't it just being overly-conservative not to have him on orange DEF?

honestly i wouldn't hesitate to give orange def to him if he got to show it more often , i hate that he's half of the games on bench , if only he could be full time starter and show it game in game out , no doubt in my mind people would recognize just how special he is , insanely good CB , I dont know if I'm overreacting when I say he's probably the best CB in the world right now .

No doubt he will have oranges in defense in a future, but for now i think he is fine in 87, he is already better than Ramos and Pepe combined. But the response seems a little low in 80, he is actually really good in intercepting, i will go for a 83.
