INFO:

Who said Maradona was alone in the 1986 World Cup? Terribly mistaken, Bochini was there. The 32 year old was the voice of experience, and by the way, Maradona's idol. The almost creepy resemblance in their game led to a sort of legacy from the Avellaneda's idol to a young 26 year old Maradona.

Bochini was devoted his whole career, and some might say whis whole live (as he continues attached), to the club of his heart: Independiente.

He stayed there for 19 years, scoring near a 100 goals, and winning so many titles it would be an un-ending list, including a Inter-Continental Cup final against no other than Juventus (in this season: 1978) scoring the winning goal and becoming a legend between the Independiente's supporters, who still see him as one of the greatest Argentineans of all times.

Nowadays, whenever someone does a great, unbelievable pass a lot of Argentineans refer to them as a "bochinesque pass"; imagine the excentricity of this player's lobs and passes.

Well, to end, I'd like to add what Maradona said to him when he was subbed in the '86 WC: "Thanks 'Maestro', thanks for the football"

Enjoy!

Nice stats!!

I didn't know that Bochini was a player so fast, although he wasn't slow. One thing I am sure, "El Bocha" was the best passer in the history of Argentine soccer and is a shame that he hasn't played the 1978 World Cup.

Sorry for my english (it's "Google Docs translator" fault )

:D

Thanks, Il Codino, Bochini was a legend for Avellaneda, he deserved a place here...

You can't assign him P08: Pinpoint Pass... He is *AMF, SS, so he can't use P08: Pinpoint Pass.

You can assign him P09: Early Cross if it suits his playing style (and I believe it does ;)).

Thanks, Plava, I made him when the new card system was beginning, I didn´´t notice.

Also, added some extra links in the 1rst post and lowered his ATT to 83.

Yeah, I already proposed him to the Argentina All Star first squad, but Brezza considered he should be on the reserves, I respect that, alltough I don't know if he is aware of the impact he had in Argentinean football. Great player, Loco! ;)

i think the attack should be higher than 82 or 83, because many of the goals of Bochini, made them positioned as a centreforward

Scoring goals doesn´t necessarily means having high ATT values. For instance, Messi (A forward) is scoring a great amount of goals per season, yet hi sits on low 80s, or CR9, who scores near 30 goals per season, still sits in mid 80s, I think Bochini is fine with 83, really, considering he isn´t a striker, but an attacking midfielder. ;)

One of the amazing players I didn't know before PSD.

Among our group of friends we use to say who resembles which player...and I was Riquelme but now we agree Bochini is my avatar lol

Which makes me question something, by the way:

I am very slow and we all (just from youtube highlights) got the same impression from Bochini, great short passer who didn't run that much...

Compare him with Matthaus, for example. Does he rightfully claim the current values=?

Well, he wasn't a speedy player, yet he wasn't a Hulk. He had normal speed, It could be considered to decrease his TS or ACC, but never his DS, his tricks and feints in short spaces, were really something, 86 is a fair value.

Do you have any concret values, Classical? ;)

I never meant to suggest a decrease in dribble speed.

Also, let me side-introduce a theory of mine about the dribble speed that despite not being applied here seem to have some followers as well, at least I went to the "dribble speed" thread and quote this:

Doesn't depend on anything. Dribble Speed dictates how much a dribble touch will slow the player down.
High Dribble Speed = very little loss of speed with the ball compared to without.

Assuming this is correct, it means we really don't rate players like they should because when facing "slow" players with great technique we tend to give them outstanding low values of DS compared to DA.
Best example: Figo. I will go now to Figo's thread (for a change...)

My point is clearly that: A slow player doesn't need to have a low DS since he is already slow. If Bochini could run with or without the ball at the same speed, there is no need to have a big contrast in those two parameters.

Now, the ACC and TS yes, I think he was slower. Let me remind you, tough, that I am basing my perception entirely on youtube highlights.

I suggest TS: 81 and AC: 80.

Probably after playing with these values they can make more sense?

Also I wanted to push the thanks button on this player post, but can't find it. As usual.

Just taking interest in the thread and mentioning the "thanks you" button is enough, Classical. ;)

I think the values U suggested are good, yet, I think I'd swap them...

TS: 80
ACC: 81

As he had an electric dribble, and his scapades relied more in his quick and unespected rythm-changing. ACC suits that definition better, in my opinion.

What do U think?

Go with your numbers Fever :D

Yes he style of play in what comes to speed ir more about quick burst than runnings.

I enphatize the fact I really like this player.
