Project: Classic set for FIFA World Cup 1998

Postby Adrien » 2012 Oct 15, 09:28

I found a link with all full games during the World Cup 1998 in France. It's gold for classic of this era. We can work on team who have player who need to be created (Zamorano, Salas for Chile ; Kanu, Amokachi, Okocha for Nigeria ; etc... )

But I can't work alone to do all this work. I'm going to work on France NT and watch all their games during this world cup. I also asked on PM to Epsi if he want to works on Italy and to Vickingo if he wants to works on Argentina. There is a lot of other team who need to be worked (like Overmars for Netherlans for example).

So if you are interresed to work on this project tell us wich team you are going to watch and rate (or wich players)

List of video link:

Group A: (Brasil, Norway, Scotland, Morrocco)

As I told you by PM I'll work on them in around two weeks, btw I have a real idea of those players as are really known and even stars (Bati/Ortega/Simeone/Ayala) but It'd be interesting to watch again those matches as was my first world cup.

There was a really good striker in there, Pájaro Hernández? The blond guy with a good body to play football and good instinct if I remember well...it'd be nice to have a set of him.

I like the idea. But what about if we do a mass update agenda thingy for every world cup (starting with 98 if you like ) where people contribute finding full matches then looking at individual teams and players etc . Might even categorize the era team section up abit.

Yeah great idea Brezza. I think it's the best option. Now all full games from modern world cup are in youtube so we can start a massive update :)

So let's start with 1998.

In this link there are all games order by group and then 1/8 to the final (even the third place games). There is 146 games (some different video with different language for one game)

Talking about Mexico, Blanco is a legend there, a set for him is welcome :) Jorge Campos too.

We can write on first post the request and the name of the people who plan to work on a team or a player. ;)

I'd like to have a set of Prosinecki and all Croatian players, they were one of my favourites NT's ever in that Cup, they were flawless. I'll watch Argentina-Croatia and I can take some notes then.

Another thing, there are made players from that era and in my team almost all set as they're known and even updated...should I take notes from them? (Verón, Ortega, Batistuta, etc). And another thing, are we gonna make whole sets watching 3/4/5 matches? Isn't a bit risky?

No of course it's useless to made a Ronaldo set for example as he is already accurate. Just those who need to be update (I think Ortega need some tweaks to update, but if you have already an accurate set for him you can post it before this world cup :) ). Make a set with 4-5 games can be a risk but it's better than nothing and in world cup players are sometimes in their best level.

I wouldnt mind working on the Dutch team. One of my favourites for sure. vd Sar, Stam, de Boer, Cocu, R. de Boer, Davids, Seedorf, Kluivert, Bergkamp, Overmars, v Hooijdonck, Hasselbaink...what a brutal team that was.

Any advances on here? I watched Argentina-Croatia for a while, didn't finish it...good memories, great WC, I used to love the style. Is it worth to continue? I mean, if any else will work on this.

I'm starting to watch it too with France vs South Africa, like said Vickingo I like the style, direct football, it was a nice world cup. I think Netherlands should be works too, I'm very interrested by a new set for Overmars and Hasselbaink.

Nertherland was a great team, remember the 5-0 against Korea.
Van der Sar, de Boer twins, Stam, Zenden, Davids, Overmars, Seedorf, Gio, Reiziger, Winter, Kluivert, Cocu, Van Hooijdonk, and the great Bergkamp they formed a spectacular team.

I'm only working on this project right now, lol one year later, but at least I will now doing it, I'm less and less watching current matches and I'm gonna spend my time for classic mostly as I'm enjoying more and can do it when I want.

I'm starting with Netherlands vs Brasil semi final. I have interrest for missing players like Zenden, Reiziger, Frank de Boer, Cocu. And for Brasil Leonardo, Aldair, Taffarel and Cesar Sampaio. Of course Konami made set for them and they have some right value on PSD but I think we can work them more.
